Welcome back for Part Three!
The overwhelming social media response has been so positive for this series, and I am SO GLAD that you're enjoying it and keep coming back for more!
This week's submission has been difficult to write. I really struggled with making sense of my feelings in life and business and of course, finding the verses that would be most helpful for myself, and all the other entrepreneurs out there who are reading this series.
I was drawn to a Facebook post recently, where the writer of the post talked about her experience in life of feeling generally unloved by the people around her. My heart hurt reading her words. To know that there are people feeling that way crushes me. But, she went on to encourage her followers to remember that no matter what, you are deserving of love. Regardless of what you have - or haven't achieved, you deserve love and acceptance. That also made me think about God's love for us. He loved us before we were born, and continues to throughout our lives and beyond. There is so much evidence of this in the Bible. He that made you is with you, and loves you through every step of your lives. So if you're feeling alone today on your entrepreneurship journey, remember; I am here. I see you and I love you. And so does He.
Let's dive in to this week's 8 Helpful Verses for Entrepreneurs and of course my interpretations of them!
*Disclaimer: As always, I am not a bible scholar. I am at best an amateur, both as an entrepreneur and spiritually. The verses chosen are ones that I have found helpful and powerful on my own journey and the thoughts on them and opinions expressed are my own. I always welcome other views and verse submissions.*
#1 Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your paths.
What this verse means to me:
Proverbs again! Like I said in Part One, Proverbs is probably my favorite book of the Bible for the entrepreneur. Simply because the wisdom contained therein can be such a great guide for business minded people. It's an amazing book even if you're not an entrepreneur, but since I started my business, I keep coming back to Proverbs over and over again.
This verse specifically, or rather these two, is so powerful for me because I have often felt lost as an entrepreneur. I have felt like I had no idea where to go to get my next client, how to lead my team, or what I should do to continue my growth. So many times I have prayed for Him to give me wisdom and take me to the people who need me. It's worked each and every time. He knows who is out there waiting for you. Just do your part and ask for his help. If you're receptive to the signs, you will see them.
#2 Jeremiah 1:5
Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.
What this verse means to me:
This one hits deep. In the same vein of what I said above. He knows you better than you know yourself. He loves you, and he knows what you will accomplish on this Earth.
Where you are going, He has known - and his support and love are what you need most of all in this battle. With God on your side, who can stand against you?
#3 James 1:12
Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
What this verse means to me:
Every time you hear the word "No," Every time someone is not interested in your offer, thinks they can get similar services cheaper, every time someone chooses to give up on them selves, it is not a reflection on you. Rejection is a part of the game, and failures are the building blocks we need to stand on as entrepreneurs. At the top, if you stay the course, you will be standing on a hill of every single time you wanted to give up. But this is proof that the good comes after all the bad. Be patiently impatient with the process and keep building. He is making you ready to receive the riches your work entitles you to.
#4 Proverbs 10:4
A slack hand causes poverty but the hand of the diligent makes rich
What this verse means to me:
Let's get really real for a second here. Not everything I am going to share with you is sunshine and rainbows. If this speaks to you, you may not be doing what you know you should be doing in order to succeed. Or, may not be doing enough of it. I myself have been guilty of that so many times. I've worked and worked, but not on the right tasks. And my business performance has shown that. But what we are being told here is that you will not gain anything promised without doing the work necessary to achieve it. Hard work brings results. No work, brings no change. We cannot just pray for everything to happen for us. It does not work that way. But, I want you to remember this. God does not call the qualified, he qualifies the called. If you are doing what you must to achieve your goals and dreams, He will reward your efforts. And I promise you, it will feel so GOOD when all your hard work pays off!
#5 Isaiah 40:31
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not be faint.
What this verse means to me:
Much like many others, Isaiah 40:31 is telling us to have faith in the Lord. No matter how hard the tasks ahead of us, he is here for us and here with us. As entrepreneurs, we need to keep the faith!
#6 Hebrews 10:23
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
What this verse means to me:
Do not just claim to have hope. Live in the hope of the Lord and the promise of His word. Be strong when the times get tough. You will benefit from his faithfulness.
This verse is encouraging, but it's also served with a dose of reality. So often, it's easy to say, "I believe!" But our actions show otherwise. Let go of the doubts and fears you have so that you can step into your reward. He is waiting for us to take the steps and the proper action.
If it's hard to let go, reflect. Take time to find out the root cause of your fears and insecurities. Pray on what is bothering you, and why. Then take action. If you fall, get back up and keep trying until you get it right.
#7 Isaiah 40:29
He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.
What this verse means to me:
Short, sweet and to the point. Isaiah 40:29 expresses all that we ought to know about Jesus. You are not small in His eyes. You are stronger than you know, because he will give all the power you need to you. Whatever it is that you need to get done, you can get it done through Him.
#8 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact, you are doing.
What this verse means to me:
Thessalonians 5:11 is all about teamwork. We've all heard the adage "teamwork makes the dream work." But I want you to really think about this one. Is the culture of where you are encouraging? Do your teammates have your back? Do they help you up when you fall?
I read something that said, "if you need to remind them to pick up the bricks, those aren't the people to build with." Are you surrounded with people who help out, or are you not? And what can you do in your organization to change the culture? Are you encouraging and lifting others up?
The Lord encourages us to encourage one another. He knows how much strength we have as a team. If you don't have one, get one. And if you really can't find anyone to encourage and love on you, reach out to me. I'd love to be your encouragement buddy!
Once again, thank you so much for taking this journey with me! My consistency has improved so much in starting this series and I can thank all of my wonderful readers for that! You all help me out so much. I love each and every one of you more than words can express.
